Egyptian cultural entrepreneur and civic activist Amira El-Sallab has launched the Seba Foundation in an effort to create the first ever regional organization in the Arab world that would promote social peace. Seba Foundation Launch
The foundation was launched this week on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which is celebrated every year on September 21.
The establishment of the civil society organization actualizes a long-held vision conceived by the founder’s late father, industrial pioneer and former Egyptian parliamentarian Mustafa El-Sallab.
During his tenure representing Cairo’s Nasr City district, the late businessman championed grassroots public welfare and structural peace initiatives.
El-Sallab noted that the newly formed entity translates her family’s legacy of public service into a structured platform addressing contemporary social pressures across the Middle East.
Conceived to address rising systemic tension and anxiety within local communities, the organization centers its philosophy on the principle that sustainable socio-economic progress requires psychological security and harmony.
Institutional leaders emphasize that social peace extends beyond abstract public slogans, requiring structured educational programming, specialized training, and active multi-stakeholder participation.
“Peace and peaceful coexistence are fundamental conditions, an absolute necessity and a cornerstone of any form of human development, prosperity and progress — materially, morally and in every other dimension,” stated El-Sallab during the launch announcement.
She emphasized that the platform intends to cultivate stability by equipping citizens with psychological resilience tools and promoting calm, constructive dialogue.
Moving forward, the non-governmental organization will sponsor targeted local projects designed to nurture individual mental well-being alongside broader environmental and social harmony.
By bridging individual psychological balance with structured sustainable development programs, the regional foundation intends to collaborate with regional civic organizations, municipal entities, and community leaders.
